My astrologer, Dianna Fontes of Astro.Artistry told me to read Making the Gods Work for You. And, I did. I also found it on Audibles. Caroline Casey weaves her magic, her knowledge, and her whimsey within a magical way to help us better understand ourselves.

One of the key components that she shares is a list of principles to guide us when we wander, magically, through life. And, she calls these, Visionary Activist Principles.

If you haven’t read or listened to Caroline Casey, change that now. Check out her work, referenced in the resources section at the end of this post. In the meantime, revel in these principles.

Visionary Activist Principles

Principle 0

Believe nothing, entertain possibilities. Therefore, everything hereafter is offered playfully.

Principle 1

Imagination lays the tracks for the Reality Train to follow.

Principle 2

Better to create prophecy than to live prediction. What makes us passive is toxic. What makes us active is tonic. This is the difference between predictions, which make us passive, and prophecy which is active co-creation with the divine.

Principle 3

The invisible world would like to help, but spiritual etiquette requires that we ask. Help is always available (operators are standing by).

Principle 4

The only way the gods know we’re asking for help is ritual.

Principle 5

If somethings a problem, make it bigger.

Principle 6

We only possess the power of an insight when we give it expression.

Principle 7

Creativity comes from the wedding of paradox. We aspire to be disciplined wild people who are radical traditionalists.

Journey Home: Reflections from 10,000 Feet

Journey Home: Reflections from 10,000 Feet

As I sit on the plane, surrounded by the hum of the engine and the chill of the window, I can’t help but notice the person in front of me repeatedly adjusting their seat, each movement a grating assault on my laptop screen. The journey back to Portland, high above the clouds, prompts reflections on the comforts of home and the complexities of travel.
