Dessert Crepe - Crepe du Sucre

La Meuniere - crepe du sucre from Chez Machin on SE Hawthorne. Crepe with warmed apricot jam, covered in thinly sliced toasted almonds, powdered sugar, and rich chocolate sauce.

Laura and I visited Chez Machin Friday night and used a Groupon she had. Since getting married and bringing Levi into this world, my time to “go out” has been very limited. Laura, like me, likes food. That is, we both enjoy the delicate subtleties paring different food brings. She even blogs about her food experiences in Kitchen Kat. I enjoy the environment, the tables, the art, how it all comes together with the staff and the presented food. I enjoy going out as much for the delightful treats to be consumed as for the whole experience. So, thank you Laura, I had enjoyed it all.

Journey Home: Reflections from 10,000 Feet

The journey back to Portland, high above the clouds, prompts reflections on the comforts of home and the complexities of travel.
